Only Begotten Son (Слава: Єдинородний сину) is part of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom from the Eastern Christian Byzantine Rite tradition. This piece is taken from a setting of the Liturgy composed by Andrij Hnatyshyn for women's voices with a melody based on Kyivan Chant.
This setting of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom was written by Andrij Hnatyshyn for Vesnivka Choir in 1968. At the time there were few arrangements of this Ukrainian Liturgy written exclusively for female voices. Vesnivka has been singing portions of this Liturgy during Christmas and Easter services since then.
