With text taken from the poetry of Vasyl Holoborodko, this song of a maiden's longing for her beloved was set to music by Larysa Kuzmenko. Kuzmenko (born 1956) is a Juno Awards-nominated Ukrainian Canadian composer and pianist based in Toronto, Canada. Many of her works have been published by Boosey & Hawkes.
Vesnivka's music archives include classical works with text drawn from poetry from many of Ukraine's great literary figures. Written for Vesnivka in 1989 in celebration of the Choir's 25th anniversary, and premiered at the Anniversary Gala.
