With text taken from the poetry of Bohdan Antonych, Toronto-based Canadian composer Larysa Kuzmenko wrote this prayer of supplication espousing the necessity of keeping one's faith in God. Kuzmenko (born 1956) is a Juno Awards-nominated Ukrainian Canadian composer and pianist based in Toronto, Canada. Many of her works have been published by Boosey & Hawkes.
As a student, Larysa Kuzmenko was an early accompanist for Vesnivka Choir. This piece, written for Vesnivka by Ms. Kuzmenko in 1988 to commemorate the Millennium Celebrations of Christianity in Ukraine, was premiered by Vesnivka in November 1988 at a concert held in Carnegie Hall, NYC.
